Pregnancy Chiropractic Arlington Heights

A Safe Approach to Pregnancy Wellness

Studies show that Chiropractic care during pregnancy is safe and beneficial. Prenatal chiropractic is focused on the physiological function and biomechanics of the pelvis and sacrum. When the pelvis and sacrum are aligned and functioning correctly, it provides the optimum environment for pregnancy.

Our office is well equipped for pregnancy care, and we’re always excited for expecting moms to try out our adjustment pillows, which allow for them to lay comfortably and safely on their belly while they get adjusted!

The Effects on Giving Birth

Giving birth is a physiological process. The uterus sits in the pelvis and sacrum, so our efforts to balance the pelvis and sacrum allow the baby to have the maximum amount of room in the uterus. When there’s optimal space, it’s easier for the baby to position itself head down, which is the preferred position for birth.

The soft tissues that attach to the pelvis and sacrum are very important as well.  Making sure these important muscles and ligaments are balanced is key to giving baby room to move and grow. Research has shown that when the pelvis is balanced and mom is functioning at her best, labor can be more comfortable, require less time, and require less intervention. Ultimately, birth is a physiological process that requires many steps before birth can occur. Our office is focused on helping your body function in a way that allows for both mom and baby to have a birth that you and your partner desire.

Your Visits During Pregnancy

Your recommended visits during pregnancy are highly personalized, but generally less frequent during the first and second trimesters.

During the third trimester, we tend to recommend more frequent care leading up to the birth process, due to the fact that during this time your baby is changing every single day! We understand every pregnancy is different, and that is why each individual is given a unique care plan specific to the individual’s needs.

Webster Technique

Dr. Danielle is certified in the Webster Technique, a technique designed specifically for pregnant women. The International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) defines the Webster Technique as a specific analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/SI joint dysfunction. In so doing neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is improved. The ICPA recognizes that in a theoretical and clinical framework of the Webster Technique in the care of pregnant women, sacral subluxation may contribute to difficult labor for the mother (i.e., dystocia). Dystocia is caused by inadequate uterine function, pelvic contraction, and baby malformation. The correction of sacral subluxation may have a positive effect on all these causes of dystocia.
